Social media provides community members (including students, potential students, parents, alumni, and Riverside residents) with a closer, more personal look at UCR and its research, departments, organizations, clubs, and events.

UC Riverside Social Media in multiple devices

Social media provides community members (including students, potential students, parents, alumni, and Riverside residents) with a closer, more personal look at UCR and its research, departments, organizations, clubs, and events. Use social media as an opportunity to build community, listen, and share stories about what life at UCR is like. Social media is our chance to interact with the public using trusted channels that are more personal and engaging than static print and digital publications. Building and nurturing relationships through a steady stream of interaction opportunities provides us with an invaluable link to our stakeholders.

UCR's Social Media Guidelines (available to view by clicking on the button below) includes all facilities for digital publishing and commentary including, without limitation: blogs, wikis, social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, Tumblr, Vimeo, and YouTube. This policy is in addition to and complements any existing or future policies regarding the use of technology, computers, email and the internet. All uses of social media must follow the same ethical standards that UCR employees must otherwise follow.

UCR Social Icons

In an effort to further unify UCR's brand, a number of branded institutional social icons are available for your use. These icons are designed to enhance visibility and recognition on a variety of digital, including hand-held, displays, and are intended to be used by all schools, colleges, and departments that maintain official social channels. No modifications should be made to the icons, including the addition of a school, college, or department name.

Use of the UCR institutional logos on social channels managed by UCR student organizations requires approval by University Relations.

College/School Social Icons

  • Whenever possible, only primary college/school institutional marks should be featured on college/school-specific marketing communications, collateral, signage, and apparel.
  • Only UCR colleges/schools and UREL-approved units may make use of social icons. Unless otherwise authorized by University Relations, use of such marks should generally be limited to their affiliated social media channels.
  • Social icons should not be used in place of official college/school institutional marks or monogram lockups on campus signage or apparel.
  • Following review and written approval by University Relations, college/school social icons may occasionally be featured on marketing communications/collateral in specific instances where display space is too limited to feature primary college/school logo or monogram, or in instances where use of such marks aligns with industry standards.
  • In partnership with UREL, college marcom directors will socialize social icon usage guidelines among unit-affiliated departments, and they will review/approve all internal requests for use of social icons prior to initiation of vendor orders/asset creation.
