Although Aileen Tran has faced her own set of personal challenges while navigating college, it hasn't affected her commitment to work in healthcare. As the first in her family to pursue a career in the medical field, Aileen's parents had a large influence on her academic choices. Witnessing her father have a stroke solidified her choice to major in pre-med psychology, while observing her mother’s unwavering work ethic fueled her ambition to excel in her studies.
Aileen plans to attend medical school and work in psychiatry and pediatrics with the hope of destigmatizing mental illnesses. Outside of academics, she is involved in the American Medical Student Association, Shadow MD, Health Career Connection, and We Succeed. These organizations not only help her connect with a community of other ambitious students but can also provide opportunities to gain hands-on experience.
