Understanding Personalized Care on a Deeper Level
Alexis Carmona has likely encountered more medical visits than the average person. As a cancer survivor and a patient with ongoing health needs, Alexis was always on the receiving end of healthcare services. Growing up in the Inland Empire with a low-income background also means she witnessed the lack of resources and diversity in healthcare firsthand.
With the knowledge of her experiences and support from her family, Alexis came to UC Riverside as a first-generation medical student with the goal of becoming a physician. At UCR, Alexis can participate in campus organizations that build connections with like-minded peers and access resources such as scholarships that will help her achieve her goals.
