Paula Omokhomion has a strong interest in how health and social protection policies drive global change. At UC Riverside, she is not only pursuing her master's in public policy but is making the most of her time as a Highlander by joining campus organizations.

Public policy student strives to bridge public service gaps 
Paula Omokhomion, a Master of Public Policy candidate, aims to develop sustainable programs that support underserved communities and explore how philanthropy can strengthen public services. 
 

NARRATIVE 

After earning a bachelor’s degree in public health nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Paula Omokhomion came to UC Riverside for a master’s in public policy. She is interested in health and social protection policies, specifically how social programs and clinical care affect health outcomes and the role that philanthropy plays in filling public service gaps. 

At UCR, Paula is a dean’s brand ambassador and chairs the Health Impact Hub at the School of Public Policy. She has also co-hosted an episode of UCR’s Policy Chats podcast (expected release in Fall 2025), where she interviewed California state treasurer Fiona Ma.  

Creatively, Paula minored in sociology and creative writing at UNC. She uses these skills as a fiction writer for The Highlander. Additionally, she published a fiction novel, “Aurora,” and her second novel, “Shape of the Sun,” will be released soon. Paula also has a blog related to public health and policy.
